Nikaido Yukihisa (二階堂行久)

Yukihisa NIKAIDO (1205 - January 20, 1267 [December 17, 1266 in old lunar calendar]) was a governmental official of the bakufu (Japanese feudal government headed by a shogun), responsible for practical works, during the mid-Kamakura period. He was a son of Yukimura NIKAIDO, and a hyojoshu (a member of Council of State). His brothers included Motoyuki NIKAIDO, Yukiyoshi NIKAIDO, Yukikata NIKAIDO, and Koreyuki NIKAIDO. He was also commonly known as Oki Shiro saemon no jo, Oki tayu hogan, and Hitachi nyudo. After entering the priesthood, he obtained his Buddhist name Gyonichi.

Records on Yukihisa can be found in the "Azuma Kagami" (The Mirror of the East) between the dates of January 20, 1231(December 9, 1230 in old lunar calendar) and March 6, 1263.

May 24, 1239:

Appointed Saemon no jo (third-ranked officer of the Left Division of Outer Palace Guards).

May 28, 1241:

Promoted in rank, but without changes to his actual title.

September 10, 1241:

Awarded Jugoinojo (Junior Fifth Rank, Upper Grade).

May 6, 1243:

Appointed Hitachi no suke (Deputy Governer of Hitachi Province).

September, 1245:

Entered into priesthood.

August, 1249:

Added as a member of Kamakura bakufu hyojoshu.

April, 1261:

Discharged from hyojoshu.

January 20, 1267 (December 17, 1266 in old lunar calendar):

Died at the age of 62.
